The short answer

Short answers to common questions about the four SOC operating models, the vendors profiled here and how this site works. Each answer links to the page that goes deeper. Vendor facts come from pages read in September 2026 and updated on 13 October 2026.

How do you choose a SOC operating model?

What are the four SOC operating models?

An AI SOC analyst platform, a SOAR playbook engine, an MDR service and a SIEM copilot. They differ in who carries triage, investigation, response and the night shift. See the decision guide.

Which model should a small security team pick?

Usually an AI SOC analyst platform if the team can own decisions, or MDR if it cannot cover nights. The fit finder shows how your answers move the order.

Can a team use two models at once?

Yes, and many do: SOAR for fixed responses with agents for the rest, or an AI SOC platform by day with a provider at night. See running a split model.

What should we measure before choosing?

Alerts per day, the share closed unread, time per investigated alert, alerts outside working hours and playbook coverage. See measuring your queue.

Does team size decide the model?

It weighs heavily, because every model needs someone to own decisions. With no analysts, software alone leaves nobody to approve actions, which is why the fit finder gives MDR its maximum for that answer.

What is the first question to ask any vendor?

Which of our alert sources are supported today, by name. A product that cannot read your noisiest source will not shorten your queue.

What should you know about AI SOC analyst platforms?

What does an AI SOC analyst platform do?

It picks up alerts, investigates each one across connected tools and reaches a verdict with evidence. Some products also act within limits you set. See the model page.

Do AI SOC platforms take response actions themselves?

Some do. Among the profiled vendors, Mate Security, 7AI, Artemis Security, Conifers CognitiveSOC, Exaforce, Intezer, Prophet Security and Torq AI SOC Platform document running actions; Dropzone AI and Vega hand response to a connected SOAR or to your analysts.

Can an AI SOC platform keep our SOAR playbooks?

Approaches differ. Mate Security describes translating playbooks; 7AI, Dropzone AI, Intezer and Vega work beside the SOAR you keep.

How much autonomy should we allow?

Decide action by action, not in general. A response action catalog lists each action with its blast radius and approval level.

Do AI SOC vendors publish prices?

None of the thirteen profiled vendors publishes a list price for a paid edition on its own site. Dropzone AI, Intezer and Tines publish tiers or a pricing unit.

What should you know about SOAR in 2026?

Is SOAR still worth running?

Yes, for fixed, audited responses and where playbooks work. The SOAR model page covers when it strains.

Can AI be added inside a SOAR?

Yes. Palo Alto describes Cortex AgentiX as the next generation of Cortex XSOAR, with AI prompts inside playbooks. Splunk says SOAR is now native in Splunk Enterprise Security, which it describes as integrated with agentic AI.

Which SOAR has the most integrations?

Among the profiled vendors, Cortex XSOAR publishes the largest figure: 900+ prebuilt integrations and automation packs. Splunk SOAR publishes 300+ tools and 2,800+ actions.

Which SOAR runs on-premises?

Cortex XSOAR has an XSOAR 8 On-prem edition, with an end of life of 30 September 2029 per Palo Alto documentation, and Splunk SOAR runs in the cloud, on-premises or hybrid.

What about MDR and SIEM copilots?

What does MDR buy?

Analysts and hours from a provider, under a contract that sets which actions they may take. See what MDR buys.

Is a SIEM copilot enough?

If your team reads every alert the same day and wants speed per alert, it can be. It does not read the alerts nobody opens. See copilot or agent.

Which profiled vendors offer a managed service?

7AI, Artemis Security, Exaforce and Prophet Security, as options alongside their software.

Are MDR providers and copilots profiled?

Yes, with lighter profiles: Arctic Wolf Aurora MDR, CrowdStrike Falcon Complete, Daylight Security, Expel MDR, Zscaler MDR (formerly Red Canary), CrowdStrike Charlotte AI, Google Security Operations with Gemini and Microsoft Security Copilot. They are not in the fact table or fit finder vendor list, which compare the thirteen AI SOC and SOAR products on the same capabilities.

What do the profiled vendors publish?

Which vendors are profiled?

Mate Security, 7AI, Artemis Security, Conifers CognitiveSOC, Cortex XSOAR, Dropzone AI, Exaforce, Intezer, Prophet Security, Splunk SOAR, Tines, Torq AI SOC Platform and Vega. See all profiles.

Which vendors offer single-tenant or customer-hosted deployment?

Single-tenant: Dropzone AI and Prophet Security. On-premises, hybrid or your own cloud tenant: Conifers CognitiveSOC, Cortex XSOAR, Splunk SOAR and Tines.

Which vendors offer a data residency option?

Conifers CognitiveSOC and Dropzone AI, on the pages reviewed.

How does this site work?

Why does this site not score vendors?

Because the right model and vendor depend on your team. We record facts and let the fit finder order them from your answers. See how we profile.

How do I report a wrong fact?

Use the contact page with the topic Correction and a link to the vendor's page. We check it against the source and update the data.
