What is a SIEM copilot, and is it enough for your SOC?
The short answer
By The Triage Desk · AI Cyber Compare · Published 2026-10-08
Desk research from public vendor pages: vendor facts read September 2026, updated 2026-10-13. Editorial reading of what vendors publish; we did not run the products and did not interview vendors.
What is SIEM copilot, in one paragraph?
An AI assistant inside a SIEM or security console that answers questions in plain language, summarizes incidents and drafts queries when an analyst asks.
What you buy: Usually a feature or add-on to a SIEM or security suite you already run.
Who decides: Your analyst. The copilot answers when asked; it does not work the queue on its own.
Who carries each stage in SIEM copilot?
- Your analysts
- Rules you write
- AI agent
- Provider's analysts
- Shared
- Not described
- Investigate: The analyst drives; the copilot summarizes and drafts queries.
- Tune: Can help draft detection queries and rules for a person to review.
- Nights and weekends: Only as busy as the analyst who is awake.
When does SIEM copilot fit?
- Your analysts handle the queue today and want to work faster in the SIEM they know.
- Alert volume is manageable and the goal is speed per alert, not coverage of every alert.
- You want AI help without giving software authority to act.
When does SIEM copilot strain?
- Alerts pile up unread; a copilot does not read them for you.
- You have no one on shift at night.
- Your alerts and evidence live mostly outside that SIEM.
Which profiled vendors work this way?
Profiled copilots
CrowdStrike's AI for the SOC, which it describes as agentic: it "reasons, decides, and acts at machine speed" across domains.
Google's security operations platform, unifying SIEM, SOAR and threat intelligence, with Gemini for natural-language search, investigation chat, case summaries and response recommendations.
Microsoft's generative AI assistant for security, available as a standalone experience or embedded in Microsoft Security products, priced in security compute units (SCUs).
Also covers this model
- Splunk SOAR: Splunk says SOAR is now a native capability of Splunk Enterprise Security, its SIEM, which it describes as integrated with agentic AI. The AI sits on the SIEM side, closest to the copilot model in our source set.
- Vega: Vega positions itself for the post-SIEM era and recommends next actions for analysts to carry out rather than executing them, which puts it near the SIEM copilot model. It does not mention SOAR; any SOAR you run keeps response.
Model definitions are general descriptions of each category. MDR providers and SIEM copilots have lighter profiles built from vendor pages read in October 2026; they are not in the fact table, fit finder vendor list or pair pages, which compare the thirteen AI SOC and SOAR products on the same 11 capabilities.
What should you ask before buying SIEM copilot?
- Does it act, or only answer?
- Which data can it see beyond this SIEM?
- Is it priced as an add-on, and per what unit?
- Can it draft detections, and who reviews them?
- What does it log about the questions analysts ask?
How does SIEM copilot compare with the other models?
Asked often about this page
Is a SIEM copilot an AI SOC analyst?
No. A copilot answers an analyst's questions; an AI SOC analyst platform works alerts from the queue on its own.
Do I need a copilot if I buy an AI SOC platform?
Not necessarily. Some AI SOC platforms offer plain-language questions of their own, such as Ask Conifers, and 7AI states its Federated SIEM brings security data into the platform so it can be searched and correlated across sources.
Which SIEM copilots are profiled?
CrowdStrike Charlotte AI, Google Security Operations with Gemini and Microsoft Security Copilot. Microsoft Security Copilot is the only one with published rates, in security compute units.
